This website is intended for use by members of the Siouxland Music Makers for LIFE. We are a Chapter of the international Lowrey Organ LIFE program. Most of us are students of the organ, ranging from beginner to advanced, and we all share a common interest in the love of music and for the sweet sounds of the Lowrey organ.
Our objective is to be visible in the community, to help promote and create interest in music and especially the Lowrey organ, but, most importantly, we hope to have FUN while doing so.
OUR FIRST YEAR UPDATE
Our Chapter in the Lowrey Organ LIFE Program was organized on June 7, 2006. LIFE stands for "Lowrey Is Fun and Easy." We voted to name our new Chapter the Siouxland Music Makers For LIFE. We participated in many activities and had some fun during that period of time, many of which are recorded in our Archives file.
*********************************************************************** Excerpts from a letter dated June 21, 2007 from Judy Halvorson, our Home Organ Division Manager, to the Sioux Falls Organ Department, in which she writes:
"As many of you already know, the home organ department of Schmitt Music-Sioux Falls will no longer staff a full-time salesperson or carry an entire inventory of home organs on the sales floor. This is due to escalating costs to run the program, coupled with a changing business environment. Our Sioux Falls store remains strong in the other departments and will continue to remain a vital part of the music community in South Dakota.
"In an effort to continue educating you on the home organ, we will strive to offer organ classes at the Sioux Falls locations with a few minor adjustments:
"The organ teacher will be an independent instructor (not an employee) paid directly by the students and will set the group fees............
"LIFE members are a part of the Lowrey community nationwide and have formed their own chapter in Sioux Falls. These members are free to meet on their own and continue participating in the Lowrey LIFE program, with the benefit of receiving the latest information directly from Lowrey on a regular basis. Schmitt's will continue to support this group with meeting space as long as the keyboard store manager deems this is necessary.
"We hope these changes will not affect your love of playing the organ for your musical enjoyment..........." ************************************************************************ At our meeting on June 21, 2007, this change was discussed, led by our keyboard store manager Scott Schoppert. He assured us that Schmitt Music will continue to provide an organ teacher for us, but the times, dates, and cost is still pending.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at 1:00pm.
